Piece #12

Finally, this is my last piece in my 12 piece concentration. For my last work I wanted to have a piece that was free of Citra Solv transfers and any media influence. I wanted to do a strong portrait of a girl who was not unaffected by the media with the freedom to think for herself. I think this pieceshows that well due to the profile of the face and the composition of the piece. I also used warm colors to show the liberation in the work and added some purple in for contrast.

  1. Hey Mary,
I think that your last piece is good but not as strong as some of your past concentration pieces. The things that I think you should work on is making the girl's face more realistic and developing stronger values. I think that the hair and the background are great though!

  2. I like the idea and you have a very strong start on this profile--even now it is one of your best and most realistic portraits. I think the piece needs to be developed further (sorry, I know you want to just be done..haha). Since your other pieces are so layered, this one needs to have the same level of complexity, in my opinion. But I love it conceptually!

  3. mary- I agree with both comments above. You need to work back in and develop the value more on the face so that it is richer in contrast and mark-making to model form. You can do it!
