Piece #11
In Piece #11 I wanted to portray the idea of an individual moving past the media's influence and developing her own idea of what she believes. To do this I used the composition of a girl looking at the open door. She is turned away from the viewer rejecting outside influences and looking toward the open door of opportunities. I did this drawing on top of CitraSolv-ed images of magazine pages. I covered up most of these though because I wanted my concentration to move toward the idea of rejected and surpassing the media's influence.

Hey Mary...so I like what you did with this one. Your contrast is strong, I love the yellow in the doorway, and you really resolved the hair very nicely. I like how I can also see citra-solved media, but barely. I think your idea would make more sense if you did more transfers in that white area above the head..then people would really get your idea. Awesome.
ReplyDeleteI like that idea of moving forward. your concept evolved not only in thought but in skill. nice job
ReplyDeleteI really like that you changed the person to a girl because it represents you more. I also like the opening of the door because you did a really good job showing that she is moving forward from society.
ReplyDeletethis one is super. It is personal. If each piece in your concentration was a snapshot from a move, this would be the "cliffhanger." You never know whats behind that door! i like your use of color and texture for emotion, and your drawing of hair has improved as well.
ReplyDeleteGood work, Mary on this piece. I agree with Daniel that you should do some solid citra-solve transfers on top of the door to further emphasize your point. Because they are so faint, your message is not as clear visually as your written description.
